Activities and sights.

The surroundings is perfect for a lot of different outdoor activities. Choose from multiple trails to walk on, lakes suitable for a swim, canoeing or/and fishing but even cycling and mountainbiking. Not just in summertime but even in the winter!

Nyhyttans location is quite central compared to Nora, Lindesberg, Hällefors and Kopparberg.

A great starting point for visiting one of these small towns.

MTB

MTB has become more and more popular så also here in Sweden. In the spring of 2021 have 3 MTB tracks opened here in Nyhyttan. MTB Nyhyttan adjoined Bergslagens cycling.

Plans for building more tracks are ready and we hope to start with the work next year. In that way the surroundings becomes more attractive.

You can find more information on our MTB page.

We rent out MTB bikes.

HIKING

You don't need to go far for a nice hiking opportunity.

Directly from our apartment you can take a walk on the Paradisrundan, Havtjärnrundan or Gruvrundan. These are even used as MTB trails but are suitable for hiking as well.

Nearby is located 'Erikaberget' which is a small nature reserv and verry beautifull for a walk. On the top you have a nice view over Nyhyttan. The track has steep parts and has one marked track.

A little bit further you can walk in the Kindla

reserv. Verry beaytifull and has a variety of

walking tracks available.

Slotterberget is an old mining area where you

can walk on your own but there is possibility

to do a guided tour.

The sluice in Nyhyhttan. You pass this also when walking the Paradisrundan.

Fishing

To fish in the lakes or/and rivers requires often a fishing license.

For Dammsjön a so called put-and-take lake is a popular fishing lake and requires a seperate license that can be bought in the local shop in Järnboås (5km from our B&B/logies).

At Dammsjön you can fish on rainbow trout and salmon trout.

It's a beautifull area with a campfire place and a half open cabin. You are allowed to bbq.

Swimming

You can take a swim on a lot of places nearby.

Only about 600m you find a swimmingplace with a small diving tower and a small beach.

A lake called Sången has a large beach and is verry suitable for small children.

In Järnboås you'll find a great swimming place called Finnsjöstrand. Here's a small beach, a large lawn and a little playground.

There are more lakes you can take a swim in the area.

SIGHTS

Nora is a small town with a lot of wooden houses. Here you can buy a ticket for the old steam train, visit the beautifull church or just take a walk through Nora town. A diversity of eatery is located in Nora.

Pershyttans mining village is certainly worth a visit. Guided tours into the Lockgruvan mine possible.

In Hjulsjö you can visit the 'Bokloppis'. The largest second hand books shop of whole Scandinavia.

There is even Bredsjö Mjölkfår nearby where you (in summertime) can see milking of sheep. Here you can enjoy a cup of tee or coffee and homemade sheep milk cheese. You can also buy sheep milk cheese and enjoy it att home.

About 500m fråm the sheep farm you can take a walk at an open air museum 'Finnstigen'. A walk through a short history of the Finnish habitation in the 16th century.
